Solar Energy Advantages And Disadvantages
from: Take a look at some of the solar energy advantages and disadvantages. Before you consider using solar energy for your energy needs, you should focus on what this type of energy can do for you, how you can get it and how you will use it. In many ways, comparing the solar energy advantages and disadvantages will give you a clearer picture of what really is out there. Is this is a viable solution to fossil fuel energy problems? Is this really the answer to saving money at home? Before you make that decision, consider the solar energy advantages and disadvantages listed here.Advantages of Solar Energy
What are the advantages of using solar energy in homes or businesses?
• Solar energy is readily available and freely available to anyone that wants to use it. The sun's power is available to virtually any location, in varying degrees and there is no one country that has this energy stored under them, like crude oil or even coal.
• Solar energy is clean burning, unlike coal, natural gas or oil. This means it does not have any negative impact on the environment when it is used. By comparison, removing and then using fossil fuels is a risk to the environment on all fronts.
• Once solar energy is used regularly, especially in whole home systems, you can expect to see a reduction in your energy bills by as much as 50 to 85 percent, with no real rise in the cost over time, unlike fossil fuels which will continue to increase.
Disadvantages of Solar Energy
There are some disadvantages to solar energy.
• Solar energy in your home will take a large upfront investment before you will begin to see rewards. You will need to invest in solar energy equipment to provide you with the ability to capture and use solar power. This initial investment is why many fossil fuel power plants have not made the switch. Yet, within four to eight years, you will make back everything you have spent through energy savings.
• Solar energy can be problematic in some areas where large amounts of light are not available. The southwest of the United States is the best location for getting solar energy due to its intense sunlight. In cloudy areas it may be harder to get enough solar energy regularly, though still possible.
As you consider the solar energy advantages and disadvantages, put them in contrast with your needs and goals. Take the time to consider how you can improve on some of these solar energy advantages and disadvantages and see rewards along the way.
