How Does Sustainable Development Work
from: How does sustainable development work? Sustainable development work is not a brand new term; the concept is to meet the needs of human beings without harming the environment. Sustainable development is broken down into these three parts: environmental, economic and sociopolitical.Everyone that recycles is doing sustainable development work. When you pick up trash off the highway you are doing your part to clean up the environment. When you save your aluminum soda cans you are doing your part to keep aluminum, which is not biodegradable, out of the landfills. You are doing sustainable development work every time you carpool with other people to go to work. Car pooling saves fuel, and saves wear and tear on the roads.
You are doing sustainable development work when you purchase fabric grocery bags, or when you return plastic grocery bags to a recycling receptacle. Plastic bags are a real hazard to the environment. Each year tons of plastic bags are deposited into landfills, clogging up the landfills and harming the environment because plastics are not very biodegradable. Every plastic bag that ends up in a recycling center is one bag that is not harming the environment.
Fabric makers are doing their part; if your winter coat is lined with a synthetic fleece, you are probably wearing fabric made of plastic soda bottles and plastic bags. Rayon is made from recycled plastic. If you are working in a factory that makes synthetic materials, such as rayon, you are doing sustainable development work. Every day that employees clock in and go to work in a factory such as this is doing their part to preserve the environment; they are also contributing to the nation's socioeconomic growth.
People working in a factory that makes welcome mats from recycled tires are doing sustainable development work. Every day thousands of tires are ground up and used to make mats that welcome visitors, or mats that go into your vehicle to keep your car floors from getting dirty. Every day that mats are manufactured and sold keeps tires from being thrown into the landfills.
How does sustainable development work? It works in so many ways. You are doing sustainable development work when you purchase energy saving light bulbs. You are doing your part when you shut off lights that you aren't using. Everyone that uses mass transit, rides their bicycle or walks to get from one place to another is doing their part to preserve the environment. Everyone that buys and uses green products meant to save the environment is doing sustainable development work. We all have a responsibility to our environment. Collectively, each person doing all they can to save energy, and the environment will make a cleaner world for the generations to come after us.
